Schmitz at Illusion won the first Warsaw Jumping 2021 competition
Swiss Edouard Schmitz won the first competition at Warsaw Jumping 2021. Riding the 8-year-old gelding, Illusion flawlessly completed the course of the morning CSIYH (1YH) two-phase competition for the Traf brand award, with a time of 36.41.
Irishman Ciaron Nallon riding on 8-year-old Mc Flurry took second place, also with zero penalty points, but with a time of 36.69. The third place on the podium was taken by Mściwoj Kiecoń on the 7-year-old mare Cleany vd Kattevennen Z – no penalty points, time 36.74. Schmitz, who started his sports career with alpine skiing, emphasized that the triumph in the first competition is a good omen for the next days.
„You never expect the win, but you try to win and it’s nice when its works out. I hope to be keen on getting better. The atmosphere is very nice, arena is good with big audience, so I look forward to seeing everybody here on the weekend” – he said.
Talking about the horse, he add that Illusion is „like a ball”, with lot of potential.
„Parkour for 7 and 8 yo horses was quite tough. The arena its quite special for them, were its all new jumps with brand new obstacles with water ditches. It’s a precious experience. We can see the organiser put a lot of effort into the show” – he added.
