Schmitz and Nallon make it to the top in Young Horse Competition

23 July 2021

Swiss rider Eduard Schmitz riding 8-year-old KWPN gelding Illusion won the morning competition against the clock (1.35/1.40m) for youngsters presented by CASEIH on the second day of Warsaw Jumping 2021. He completed the round within 58,97 with no penalties.

It’s the third gold for this 21-year-old contestant from Switzerland during Warsaw Jumping CSIO4* Longines EEF.
He admitted that he wouldn’t mind winning the rest of the competitions.

It’s not my goal to leave medals for the others. There is no secret, horses are in good shape, and when horses are in good shape I also feel confident. Sometimes it kind of works out, and that is what is happening to me so far this weekend” – he said after the prize-giving.

When asked if the parkour hadn’t been too easy he responded – ‘Quite the opposite’.

Is was quite tough for the young horses. Yesterday it was a bit lower, also, maybe a bit easier for the first day. Today it was bigger and a bit more difficult. Everything is perfect, and I am looking forward to the rest of the weekend” – he said.

Like already on Thursday, the runner-up was Ciaron Nallon riding 8-year-old westphalian gelding Mc Flurry. Friday morning he completed the course with no penalties within 60,22.

The third place was taken by Gerrit Nieberg on 7-year-old hann. Cwept – with timing of 60,64.

For the Polish rider Antoni Strzałkowski and his 7-year-old KWPN mare Jaminka the course was a near-miss behind the podium.
