The last individual victory goes to…Ales Opatrny! ‘My way home will be much better!’

7 September 2024

The penultimate evening of Warsaw Jumping 2024 rounded up with the CSIO4* for the prize of Totalizator Sportowy, under the patronage of Ministerstwo Rolnictwa i Rozwoju Wsi. The winner of the jump off was Alex Opatny of the Czech Republic, one of the only three jumpers who took a clear one throughout the jump-off course.

The competition listed 56 in total. A four-star rivalry, with heights up to 145 cm and 16 jumps to take. The flawless ones made it to the jump-off, which required much of a speed, precision and some mastery in shortcuts.

Its demanding quality, set up by Gregory Bodo’s, who arrived in Warsaw right on his way from Paris, let only 8 duos pull through to the jump-off. Already there, only three of them took a clear one. Opatny with the 12-year-old Human Leaque clocked in first.

It has been a great competition for me. As we are not taking part in the Nations Cup, it was my last start before going home. It’s going to make my way home much better. As for the course, I had initially expected some 15-16 getting through to the jump-off, but as we have seen, the course designer did a good job. – concluded the happy winner.

The second spot was taken by the already-well-known-here Greek Angelos Touloupolis, who this time resorted to one of his primary horses – the 12-year-old stallion Lord Mexx.

It feels amazing. I think I rode my horse much better today, yesterday I was a little bit disappointed. Today I gave him the ride he deserves, a double clear. I am really proud of him. – grinned Toulupis.

The podium was completed by a young Hungarian Gábor Szabó Jr. With his 14-year-old Mezohegyes Chabala mare. I am feeling very good. There are a lot of people. The horse today is simply the best. For me, it is the last day and the last competition, I am so happy about everything here. – summed up the third place winner.
